With the help of fencing center members Nathan & brother Khalil Abdul Khabir everyone was suited up in fencing gear including helmet, glove and foil!! Check out our photo & video highlights!!

On Guard!!! ISCNY Explorers it’s time for another adventure!!! This time we are off to the Syracuse Musketeer Fencing Center for a workshop. Any k-8th grade Explorer is invited to participate in this free 1 day fencing workshop.

Syracuse Musketeers Fencing Center is offering a series of fencing half-day camps, led by Coach Lubo Kalpaktchiev, for children ages 8-16. With the utmost attention to safety, students will participate in fun-filled games to promote speed, agility and coordination, develop an understanding of fencing strategy, proper footwork and techniques, and learn to fence. Students will have the opportunity to take part in Olympic-style fencing utilizing the latest technologies for electronic scoring. Good sportsmanship and fun will be emphasized each day! All equipment and protective gear is provided.

Can Beginners Participate? YES !!- All Levels Fencers Welcome:

These camps are for both kids that are new to fencing (with no experience) as well as fencers with some prior experience. Games will be played to enhance the skills necessary to fence such as coordination, agility and speed. More advanced footwork and blade techniques will be taught and emphasized and campers will fence, judge and direct bouts from Day 1. Fencers will be video recorded and have the opportunity to later watch themselves and receive encouraging feedback. All equipment and protective gear will be provided.

Water bottle | Healthy snack | Hand towel | T-shirt, shorts & a pair of sweat pants | Sneakers (No sandals or flip flops!) | Energy & desire to have fun, make friends and learn to fence!
