If you go to any Muslim home or Masjid for Iftar (the evening meal to break the fast) you can always count on dates and water as the first course. Naturally, our bodies need water after a fast. I’m still amazed at how much sweeter and refreshing water tastes after a day of fasting. Dates are a special food recommended by our Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of God be upon him). They provide a mix of vitamins, minerals, sugars and fiber and just a few are enough to replenish the body after a fast.
