The Islamic Society of Central New York is a non-profit religious and cultural organization whose purpose is to serve the needs of Central New York Muslims through religious programs and education. It also works to promote understanding and cooperation between Muslims and non-Muslims by eliminating misunderstandings about the principles and ideals of the Islamic way of life.
The Islamic Society of Central New York is governed by an elected body of nine directors, the Shura Board. The Shura Board is responsible for managing the Society’s affairs and programs.
The Islamic Society of Central New York retains an Imam (religious scholar) to lead religious services and education programs. The Imam may also act as a representative of the Islamic Society of CNY in various inter-faith events and organizations.
