The Reentry Forum meet twice a month with formerly incarcerated Muslims to discuss issues relative to returning to society.
The forum extends structure, reinforces Islamic conduct/morals and offers fellowship. Forum volunteers can help assess health, addiction, employment, housing or social service needs and recommend referrals. Open conversation in forum meetings can identify barriers that could prevent a successful return to society.
This forum also serves as a means of removing stigmatization of individuals returning to the Muslim community after incarceration. The Reentry ISCNY Forum seeks to serve as a vehicle to address marginalization, loneliness and, behaviors that lead to recidivism by offering support in an Islamic environment.
Forum inquiries can be directed to Br. Khalil AbdulKhabir.
