WOMEN’S TAJWEED CLASS

Tajweed Class & Quran Class for Women

Dates:
Fridays | 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. 
Saturdays | 12 – 2:00 p.m.
Sundays |6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Prophet Mohammed (saws) said: “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” – Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Learn tajweed recitation rules Fridays 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Sundays 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the ISCNY library. Classes are led by sister Jamilah AlWahidi and sister Um Rafal.  This class is FREE, students can register on their first day of instruction.

The class is broken into 2 levels, one for Juz’ Amma (30th part) and one for Surat Al Baqarah (the first Juz’)

This foundational Tajweed class is open to beginner and intermediate learners. *Participants must know how to read Arabic letters and basic sentences.


Q: What is Tajweed? 

Tajweed is the study of proper pronunciation phonetics, rhythm and tempo of Quranic recitation.

The word Tajweed is a verbal noun from ‘jawwada’ (جوَّد), which literally means ‘to make better’. 
Tajweed is one of the most prominent sciences of the Qur’ân. It is a science governed by deep-rooted static rules derived from the oral recitation of the Qur’ân by the Prophet Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم after hearing the revelation from the Angel Gabriel.

Tajweed is the study of proper pronunciation phonetics, rhythm and tempo of Quranic recitation.
